It's called racial steering. Some say realtors show clients homes in neighborhoods that match their racial background and "steer" them away from communities that don't. The Fair Housing Act prohibits racial and other types of discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of homes. The new study reports "racial steering" occurred in 87% of realtor-guided home shopping trips. The National Fair Housing Alliance says agents also steered home buyers from purchasing in certain neighborhoods simply by not showing them homes there. Two testers in the study found the results to be extremely shocking.
